UKAS At Michell Instruments Limited UK, we understand and endorse the need to conform to recognised standards for quality and calibration. Our calibration laboratory maintains full traceability to British (NPL) and American (NIST) Humidity Standards. Michell Instruments Limited UK, has been accredited to UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) for the calibration of dew point hygrometers since 1986 (laboratory number 0179) and our current dew point calibration range is -90 to +82°C. For full details of our measurement capability please see our Schedule of Accreditation. Our traceability to NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology) is over the range -75 to +20°C. Michell Instruments Limited UK has recently been awarded UKAS accreditation for the calibration of relative humidity instruments. The accreditation covers the relative humidity range 10 to 98 %rh at temperatures from 10 to 82 °C and 10 to 73 %rh from 82 to 90 °C. Uncertainty is 2% of measured relative humidity at temperatures from 20 to 90 °C and 2.3% of measured relative humidity from 10 to 20 °C (at a coverage factor of k=2). Best measurement uncertainty for temperature is+/-0.2 °C.

As a result of the European Accreditation (EA), our UKAS accreditation carries equal validity in any country which is a member of the EA.
NVLAP
Michell's UKAS accreditation is commonly recognised in the USA as equivalent to NVLAP (National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program) accreditation.

HAZARDOUS AREA CERTIFICATION
Michell’s Cermax IS Portable Hygrometer is ATEX certified by Baseefa (2001) Ltd for use in hazardous areas to 
II 1G EEx ia IIC (155°C) T3 and conforms to European Standards EN 50 014 and EN50 020. Cermax IS is also FM listed and CSA (Canada) approved.
Transmet IS is ATEX certified by EECS for use in hazardous areas to II 1G EEx ia IIC T4 (in accordance with EN50 284, EN50 014 and EN50 020) when used in conjunction with isolation barriers for both signal and power supply connections. Both Condumax and Promet Analysers are ATEX certified for Zone 1 and 2 hazardous area operation.

Chinese Pattern Approval and Import Testing in China
The use of equipment for calibration and measurement purposes in China is governed by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China. Under this Bureau the Department of Metrology polices the laws that state that such equipment must be approved for use. This is called the Pattern Approval Certificate.
Michell Instruments has attained Pattern Approval on a selection of its product range. Additionally any products imported into China for calibration and measurement purposes must have their accuracy verified. Michell Instruments can assist with this import test check via approved laboratories in China thus ensuring that the Chinese laws and regulations on metrology are complied with.
Pattern Approval is not to be confused with CCC (China Compulsory Certification) which is a new regulation which covers mainly domestic electrical goods, power tools and certain electrical devices.

Russian Pattern Approval
For the Russian market Michell Instruments' products have been certified by GOST. This certification consists of a Conformity Certificate, which certifies that the instruments are built to the required standard and a Pattern Approval, which certifies that the metrology techniques are satisfactory.
All products designed for use in Hazardous areas (Condumax, Cermax IS, Transmet IS) have Ex. Approval. In addition, the Russian market requires GosGorTechNador permission, which is an industry based approval for hazardous areas.
